TAWS is a further development of the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS). TAWS will be mandatory in the US from March 29, 2005 (see Final Rule 98-11) and in Canada from January 2003. It is expected that airworthiness authorities in other countries will stipulate similar compliance dates.
Fokker Services has selected Honeywell International Inc. as the supplier of the most cost-effective solution for TAWS: the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS)). Modifications are being made available for all Fokker aircraft types.
