In response to the ongoing market demand for the Fokker 50 Maritime, Fokker Services is introducing the Fokker 50 Maritime "Eyes Over The Sea". This long-endurance surveillance aircraft is a fusion of modern sensors with a mature platform, and has demonstrated its capabilities in the maritime role.
Prevailing passenger transport market conditions allow for the procurement of a substantial number of Fokker 50 passenger aircraft at favorable conditions. Most of these Fokker 50 aircraft have flown only a limited portion of their design life. The exceptional long life (90,000 hrs.) and the high quality of the available Fokker 50 aircraft, make it possible to give these aircraft a second term as a Maritime Platform.

Designed for multiple missions
The Fokker 50 Maritime "Eyes Over The Sea" has the ability to execute the broad spectrum of missions required for round-the-clock surveillance of coastal and adjacent sea areas. Specific missions include:
- Fishery protection; during the last decade there has been a dramatic increase in illegal fishing and poaching of protected fish species.
- Anti Smuggling patrol to prevent drugs smuggling and illegal export of oil and other resources.
- Search and Rescue: the Fokker 50 Maritime is equipped in accordance with the ICAO recommendations.
- Offshore Oilfield protection;
- Pollution Detection and Mapping; accidents and flushing of oil tanks at sea require maritime environmental control through IR and Synthetic Aperture Radar equipment. This equipment is installed in the Fokker 50 Maritime.
The Fokker 50 Maritime is capable of recording the transgression, and of identifying the trespassers. Most missions require that position, identity, and illegal activities of suspected ships are recorded in such a manner as to constitute "prima facie" evidence in a court of law. All equipment to fulfill this requirement is installed in the Fokker 50 Maritime.
Each nation may have different requirements depending on its geographic location and threats. The flexible design of the Fokker 50 Maritime makes it adaptable to these requirements.
Unmatched performance
The Fokker 50 Maritime is using the proven and mature Fokker 50 as its platform, thereby offering reliability, performance, comfort and low operating cost as basis assets.
The aircraft's wide speed range, long endurance of at least 11 hrs, low fuel consumption and manoeuvrability in all phases of flight, make it an excellent and stable platform for the maritime patrol role. Cabin pressurization enables it to fly comfortably above the weather.
The Fokker 50 Maritime has a wing stores payload using universal pylons to carry stores such as pylon tanks, with searchlight and flares. Optionally, a stub-wing payload can be provided, rendering the aircraft unrivalled in its class.
